Fourth Grade Staff
I love God and I love kids, so I am thrilled to be able to teach children about our Father and Savior and explore His world. I am so grateful for the opportunity to share how great our God is and what He has done in my life to help mold the young lives that enter my classroom each day.
I grew up in Hudsonville, MI, where I attended Hudsonville Christian Schools and Unity Christian High School. After high school, I moved to Sioux Center, Iowa, where I attended Dordt University. I graduated in 2013 with an elementary education major and minors in special education and reading. Following graduation, I taught for two years as lead teacher at Zeeland Christian Elementary in the Resource Room before God led me to Byron Center Christian in 2015. I am excited to use what I have learned throughout my education and experiences to teach fourth grade at BCCS.
I married my high-school sweetheart and childhood friend, Scott, in June 2014. And we welcomed our first child, Hallie, in March 2017. We love sports, (especially soccer), going up north to our family cottage, traveling, camping, snowboarding, and playing games. In my spare time I also love to read, meet friends for coffee, bake, run, take pictures, and spend time with family.
Favorite Verse: “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
God has blessed me with a passion for teaching since I was a child. He continues to show me my blessings every day that I am able to teach at Byron Center Christian! It is a true joy to be able to serve the Lord while doing something I love.
I am a BCCS graduate myself and attended South Christian High School after that. I continued on to Central Michigan University (Fire Up!) where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, with a major in mathematics and a minor in language arts. After graduating from CMU in May 2019, I began my career here in 4th grade at BCCS. I love spending time with my family and friends, playing board games and being outdoors. I enjoy being active physically and mentally, playing sports and doing challenging puzzles.
I truly value the Christian Education I received and hope to provide your children with the same love and excitement for Jesus as my teachers instilled in me. One verse that has been influential to me in my teaching career is 1 Timothy 4:12 which says, “Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” My hope is that my students are able to see the impact they can have on those around them despite their age.
