One of the units our preschool students explore is about signs. While there are many short-term outcomes, such as recognizing letters or finding signs in the community, their learning goes beyond that! To connect their study to real people and real work, students created their own sign for Talons Out Mission 27, helping to welcome veterans home from their Honor Flight.
Learning how signs communicate messages is important, but even more so, we want our preschoolers to practice showing appreciation and welcome to others! #bccs #bccspreschool
It's always a good day when your learning includes making (and eating) applesauce! #bccs #bccskindergarten
First graders enjoyed one of their outdoor learning spaces while working on their writing! #bccs #bccsfirstgrade
Learning about the eye means students got the chance to check out a real (cow) eye. This not only helped learners better understand how light and sight work but also allowed them to see firsthand God’s intentional design in creation! #bccs #bccsfourthgrade
Today, we share BCCS sponsor CarbonSix Construction! Thank you for your support this year! #bccs

Did you know our school participates in PaperGator! You can drop off (at either campus) things like:
-Office/school paper
-Newspapers
-Paperboard (like cereal boxes)
-Catalogs & magazines
-Junk mail
-Shredded paper
-Corrugated cardboard (12" x 12" or smaller)
-Hard & soft cover books
Every pound of paper helps the environment and earns money for school. Thanks for supporting both Earthkeeping and BCCS! #bccs
If you give a middle school student a hammer…our teachers will use it to frame all learning in social studies!
Mr. Deblecourt shared that our class storyline is With Joy: Love and Restore. To kick things off, students wrote words of truth from Scripture on porcelain dishes. Then, they talked about the lies Satan tells and broke their dishes to show how he tries to damage what God made good. The broken pieces were then glued onto a board to cover the lies—a reminder that God’s truth brings healing and restoration.
There are many important topics covered in middle school social studies, but ultimately, we want students to have a lens of love and restoration! #bccs #bccsmiddleschool
Place-based preschool students have been doing all kinds of learning in all kinds of weather! #bccs #bccspreschool
Our seventh-grade students stepped into God’s creation last week and came alive as Creation Enjoyers, Community Builders, and Order Discoverers! At Outdoor Education Camp, middle schoolers didn’t just learn about nature; they experienced it. They saw God’s fingerprints in the beauty of creation, recognized the brokenness in the world around them, and discovered the hope of restoration through Christ. Together with all the South Suburban Christian Schools, students built community, reflected on their personal deep hopes, and connected learning to God’s bigger story! #bccs #bccsmiddleschoool

Last week, fifth-grade students were writing deeply about their reading. That foundational skill will then lead them to be able to give evidence for a theme in a novel tomorrow and ultimately be able to expand their perspective to decipher meaning from books that apply to their lives.
As teachers design learning, it is always done by helping students develop short-term skills, but also leading them to develop long-term habits and traits in each subject. #bccs #bccsmiddleschool
